Breadth of the Program

A complete agricultural education program is made up of three components:

  • Classroom instruction - led by a licensed agriculture teacher
  • Leadership training - FFA
  • Individual project - SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience)

These components work in tandem to expose students to the breadth of the agriculture industry and prepare them for careers in the agriculture, food and natural resources fields. The curriculum encompasses the seven career pathways that have been endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education:

1.  Agribusiness System

2.  Animal System

3.  Biotechnology System

4.  Environmental System

5.  Food Products and Processing System

6.  Natural Resource System

7.  Plant System

8.  Power, Structural and Technical System

While the Wisconsin FFA Foundation provides financial resources to all three components, its primary focus is on FFA programs. Many of the FFA programs provide competition and recognition for accomplishments in the other two program areas as well as providing additional leadership training.
