Wisconsin FFA Foundation establishes Bethany L. Rieth Memorial Fund

Fund to honor the memory of a Past State Officer dedicated to service

Madison, Wis. [March 2, 2016] – The Wisconsin FFA Foundation is proud to have established the Bethany L. Rieth Memorial Fund, in honor of the Past State FFA Officer who passed away tragically as the result of a skiing accident on February 6.

“Bethany had a heart devoted to the service of others,” says Sara Schoenborn, executive director of the Wisconsin FFA Foundation. “Losing her has had a tremendous impact on our FFA Family and it is our hope that this fund will help carry on her efforts of making a difference in the lives of others.”

The youngest of four children, Bethany was a 2010 graduate of Oconto Falls High School and completed her degree in nursing from UW-Madison in 2015. Throughout her life, Bethany was involved in numerous school, athletic and service activities. In addition to serving as the Oconto County Fairest of the Fair, and volunteering for mission trips to Jamaica, Alaska and Cambodia, she was selected as the Wisconsin FFA Sentinel in 2012-13, where she touched the lives of countless Wisconsin FFA members, agricultural educators and alumni.

All contributions given to the Bethany L. Rieth Memorial Fund will support FFA community service projects at the local chapter level. Wisconsin FFA chapters will be eligible to apply for these funds to administer service projects in their local communities.

“Bethany put so much love into everything she did. She was blessed with a heart for serving others and used that gift to the fullest,” says Bethany’s family. “It is a great honor to establish a service grant for chapters in her memory. Our hope is that FFA members will be inspired to continue Bethany’s legacy by serving others in their own communities. Though our loss of Bethany is heartbreaking, it will bring us some peace to know that a part of her will live on through these service projects.”

Those wishing to join the Wisconsin FFA Foundation in honoring Bethany may send donations to the Wisconsin FFA Foundation at 1241 John Q. Hammons Drive, Madison, WI  53717 or make a contribution online at www.wisconsinffafoundation.org. For additional information, please contact Sara Schoenborn at 608.831.5058 x3.
